The ZuS Power Challenge is winding down. It’s been a great week in here, and I want to thank you all for your support and encouragement through this experience. I thought the hard part would be to balance my power consumption with power production, but it turns out the mental challenge was the toughest.

Global Wind Group Inc. has successfully demonstrated that a complete solution to customer’s energy needs is possible when you design the entire system top to bottom. The ZuS modular power system is scalable which means that we install the right number of turbines and batteries for your needs now, and the system grows with your demands.

The ZuS Power Challenge at the Red River Exhibition grounds is going well. We’ve been learning a lot about how to properly balance electrical use with the number of batteries we have. For next year, we’ll likely use additional batteries to ensure we can manage the low wind days better. I would like to thank Clearly Insight for providing the cameras you’ve been using to spy on me this whole time. Their cameras are high quality indoor cameras, and this one has a night vision function even though we haven’t used it for this event.

It’s Vince here, still leading the way in the first annual ZuS Power Challenge! Last night was a tough one, my sleep wasn’t the best. On the plus side, spring is coming to Winnipeg. It’s been a long cold winter here that’s for sure.

I was thinking that I’d like to fill all of you in on the other technologies I have working for me here in the eco-cabin. The first thing you see when you walk up to the cabin is a beautiful wooden exterior. It’s not actually wood, but it’s got the texture and look of nice wooden logs. It’s a metal siding from Superior Seamless Siding (www.superior-seamless.com/).

It’s the end of the third day. We were expecting Ace Burpee, a local celebrity and radio host, but illness kept him away. It would have been great to meet Ace since I listen to his morning show on Hot 103 often. Maybe we’ll get lucky and he’ll come out later in the challenge. I’m getting a little tired of the same breakfast sandwich every morning so if anyone has any suggestions for what I should have tomorrow, let me know.

For those of you who are following regularly you will notice that our website was down today which was due to some technical issues with GoDaddy, our hosting company. In addition we have had continuous technical issues with our cameras. Our technical partners are working tirelessly to get us back up and we hope to be back tomorrow.

It is always great fun to give them the grand tour of my home away from home and to talk about how wind power can be a great supplemental, sustainable energy source for remote locations. I’m finding that one of the most difficult things about this challenge is managing how I use energy. When the wind is low and the batteries aren’t recharging, then I have to pay close attention to the electricity I’m drawing for our little cabin- think of it as an “energy diet”, where I need to watch what I consume.
